Almost all of us have been conditioned during our young formative years to get an good education and get a well paying job. There are certainly more than enough superb universities to get a great education but fewer and fewer places to get and keep a well paying job.  


Over the last twenty years or so the home business marketplace has exploded and it shows no signs of stopping. With a great idea or passion it is possible to start a business that can have the potential of generating a great income. 

There are literally thousands of ways to earn a great living working from home. If you can write or you can learn to write, you can publish and promote your own blog. If you have a talent for making a product that people want or need, you can sell it online. Even if you do not have a great idea for a home business, there are thousands of affiliate programs where you can make a percentage from the profits on each purchase. 


Popular products such as books, toys, home items and electronics are just a few of these items. If your affiliate program offers a service you can promote such as advertising or an education course, this can be very lucrative as well.

Now, how much money were you thinking of making? If you want to make five or ten thousand dollars a month you may have to join several affiliate programs. Generally these programs are free to join so all you have to do is set up an account online and start promoting your website so others are aware of your product or service. 


In the beginning it's not uncommon for many to start making several hundred dollars per month part time. In fact, this is a great way to see how you like the particular program you have joined before making a long term commitment. Obviously, some programs pay better than others. Couple this with a greater demand for the product or service for your target market and you could have a winner.

Many experts say it is best to market programs that are in the same or related niche. That is, restrict programs that you represent to a given market segment so you are not scattering or diluting your marketing efforts. For the most part I agree with this business strategy. This way when you market your websites you can promote them all in the same way and at the same time. 


If you use free or paid advertisements, you can present your affiliate offerings to a given niche market. You are much more likely to be successful doing this than trying to appeal to a broad unfocused market. I think this is where many would be entrepreneurs go astray. They try to be all things to all people and they end up with a marketing campaign that was not very authentic or effective.  

So, which programs offer the best opportunity for making a good income? This is where you will have to conduct some market research. Go to various sites in the niche market you're considering and judge their effectiveness in selling you. If you are honest with yourself and the product excites you, try transferring this same excitement to you audience. 


Generally this same excitement will be conveyed to your customer and they will sense your authenticity and belief in your product or service. If you believe a product or service resonates with you and your passion then give it a try. Just make sure it is a company that offers a product or service that you are passionate about.
