An Effective Way to Increase Traffic to Your Blog or Website

The first thing to do is determine the best keywords and phrases that your blog or website represents. You don't just want traffic. You want targeted buying traffic. Once this is done go to your favorite search engine such as Goggle or Yahoo and enter these keywords or key phrases that you think accurately reflect the content of your website. When you conduct the search, note the ten or so websites that come up first for a particular search engine using a keyword or keyword phrase. 


With a notebook handy, click on each of these ten websites to take a look at them. On the first page of each website, right click near the top of the page and click "source code" in the menu. Note the keywords that each of the sites use. Make a note of all the common keywords each site uses as these will be the most valuable to you. Now go to the free Google keyword and AdWords tool for keyword suggestions. Enter each of keywords in the box provided and make a note of which keywords and keyword phrases are generated. Now look at the competition level for each keyword or phrase. Select keywords and phrases that have high click frequencies while having relatively low competition. These words will provide you with a good place to start with keywords and keyword phrases. 


Now develop text in your own website that uses these keywords and phrases. Continue refining your content without overuse of these keywords and phrases. Make sure these keywords are used in the right context without overdoing it.


As time passes, monitor your ranking in the search engines to see how you are doing against your competition. Use this technique to constantly refine your keywords which will enhance the quality of your content and provide better rankings by the search engines.
